Recall of laptop batteries 2006 - Update 2009

Dell has more information about the recall of Sony lithium-ion batteries in 2006: the number of potentially affected units by approximately 18,000 have been corrected above. Dell has updated the recall Web site at laptopbatteriesinc.com.au accordingly.

Customers whose systems contain defective batteries, are asked to check the site, even if they previously checked their DELL XPS M1530 battery during the first recall. The defective batteries will be replaced free of charge from Dell. [Announcement of 17 September 2009].

Recall of laptop batteries in 2008

On 30 October 2008 announced the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission that some of Sony notebook batteries were recalled by the manufacturer. Defective batteries from Sony, Dell has received - the number is a maximum of 300 worldwide. On 14 August 2006, Dell announced the recall of Dell Inspiron Mini 9 battery manufactured with Sony cells. As part of this recall process, Dell requires its suppliers to continue to constantly update the data leading to the recall.
